Duration: 6'<br/><br/>Igor Stravinsky died on 6 April 1971; I made the tape of In memoriam durig the following week. The initial tape was a recording of the beginning of Mozart's g minor symphony in an electrified version made by the Spanish pop orchestra popular at the time in which a rhythm section and harpsichord were added to Mozart's instrumentation and the result was processed with a compressor. I edited this tape in the rhythm of the entire last movement of the Rite of Spring, the Danse sacrale. The work consequently consits of some 1,200 pieces of tape spliced together: a piece of the Mozart tape for each of Stravinsky's chords and a piece of blank tape for each rest. Han Reiziger presented the first performance of the work on the VPRO radio station on April 19, 1971.<br/>
