en Louis Andriessen wrote <i>Y Después</i>, a setting of a poem by Federico Garcia Lorca, in 1983. Several different impulses gave rise to the song:<br/>Initially, a request for a song from the Dutch-Chilean group Amancay, which first prompted the composer to start work on Lorca’s text.<br/>Secondly, a request from the Festival l’Unita for a song to be performed at a concert in the Netherlands to mark the tenth anniversary of the coup against the Salvador Allende.<br/>And finally, the death of the composer’s brother-in-law, the Spanish scholar and man of letters, Daniël de Lange, after which the song was completed in a single day.<br/>The piece has the character of an In Memoriam.<br/><br/>The first performance of <i>Y Después<i/> took place in September 1983, at the Allende-coup concert referred to above. It was given by Orkest De Volharding and the Uruguayan singer Mabel Gonzales. In this programme, it will be sung by Cristina Zavalloni.<br/>

Het werk is ontstaan om verschillende redenen:<br/>Ten eerste: een verzoek van de Nederlands-Chileense groep Amancay om een lied te schrijven. Louis Andriessen is toen op deze tekst van F.G. Lorca hiermee begonnen.<br/>Ten tweede: een verzoek in '83 van het Festival l'Unita om voor een herdenkingsconcert voor de Allende-coup een lied te schrijven.<br/>Toen Andriessens zwager, de hispagnoloog en literator Daniël de Lange, stierf, heeft hij het lied uiteindelijk in een dag afgemaakt.<br/>De eerste uitvoering van Y Después vond plaats op de Nederlandse tien-jarige herdenking van de Allende-coup, in september 1983. Het stuk werd toen uitgevoerd door De Volharding en de Uruguayaanse zangeres Mabel Gonzales. Het stuk staat in het teken van "In Memoriam".<br/>In dit concertprogramma worden de liedteksten vertolkt door Astrid Seriese.
