Herneming Dubbelspoor
With this series of performances, Beppie Blankert Dansconcerten pays homage to Louis Andriessen, who wrote the music for this performance at the time. The performance has premiered at the Spring festival in Utrecht on 27 and 28 May, followed by a small tour to Amsterdam, Maastricht and The Hague (see below).
There was an intense collaboration and great personal connection between Andriessen and dancer and choreographer Blankert, since their first collaboration for De Stijl in 1985. In it, she danced and simultaneously spoke a kind of rap about Piet Mondrian, who was called the “dancing madonna”. They created the performance Dubbelspoor in 1986, choosing Samuel Beckett's Texts for Nothing #7 in addition to the choreography and music, which fitted seamlessly with the chosen theme for the performance: 'waiting.'
The performance also stems from Andriessen's and Blankert's shared love for a 1977 book by Anton Haakman, Achter de spiegel ('Behind the Mirror'), in which he compellingly describes the connection of reality and fiction in film and in reality. The performance Dubbelspoor ingeniously varies reflections, illusions and memories.
This reprise is not just any reprise. It is an artistic statement that emphasises the timelessness of art while reflecting on the transience of the body.
Choreographer Beppie Blankert revives this performance in the original cast from 1986 - a rare event in the dance world that confronts us with the impact of time. The two aging dancers dance a tribute to Louis Andriessen and his music.

Beppie Blankert Dansconcerten brengt met deze reeks voorstellingen een hommage aan Louis Andriessen, die destijds de muziek voor deze voorstelling schreef. De voorstelling ging op 27 en 28 mei in première op het SPRING festival in Utrecht en is vervolgens ook te zien in Amsterdam, Maastricht en Den Haag (zie hieronder).
Tussen Andriessen en danseres en choreografe Blankert bestond een intensieve samenwerking en grote persoonlijke verbondenheid, sinds hun eerste samenwerking voor De Stijl in 1985. Zij danste hierin en sprak tegelijkertijd een soort rap over Piet Mondriaan, die wel de ‘dansende madonna’ werd genoemd. Zij maakten de voorstelling Dubbelspoor in 1986 en kozen naast de choreografie en de muziek Texts for Nothing #7 van Samuel Beckett, die naadloos aansloot bij het gekozen thema voor de voorstelling: ‘wachten.’
De voorstelling komt ook voort uit de gedeelde liefde voor een boek van Anton Haakman, Achter de spiegel uit 1977, waarin hij op meeslepende wijze de samenhang van werkelijkheid en fictie beschrijft in film en in realiteit. De voorstelling Dubbelspoor varieert op ingenieuze wijze met weerspiegeling, illusies en herinneringen.
Deze herneming is niet zomaar een reprise. Het is een artistiek statement dat de tijdloosheid van kunst benadrukt én tegelijkertijd reflecteert op de vergankelijkheid van het lichaam. Choreografe Beppie Blankert brengt in de originele cast uit 1986 deze voorstelling opnieuw tot leven - een zeldzame gebeurtenis in de danswereld die ons confronteert met de impact van tijd. De twee danseressen op leeftijd dansen een eerbetoon aan Louis Andriessen en zijn muziek.
Met vriendelijke toestemming van auteurs en organisatie publiceren we hier twee teksten uit het programmaboek bij de voorstellingenreeks in 2025: de programmatoelichting van Elmer Schönberger en een artikel van prof. dr. Maaike Bleeker uit 2001 over Dubbelspoor: Being Where?.
